Haller’s correspondence with Anna Vandenhoeck, the bookseller and publisher in Göttingen, stretches from 1753 to 1777. That only 1 letter is available for the years 1755–1766 already suggests than many have been lost. Of the surviving letters, 26 are from Haller and 6 from Vandenhoeck. They deal primarily with her firm’s publication of books – not only Haller’s new, continuing, and revised works but also translations of popular travel accounts, among other publishing projects. They highlight some of the challenges of negotiating and carrying out such ventures from afar. In addition, they contain lists of books and journals that Haller ordered at various times.

This is a guest edition prepared by Otto Sonntag, which philologically follows the general guidelines for guest editions of hallerNet (Editionsmodell Gasteditionen Version 1.0). Information specific to this edition is given in the chapter "Editorial Principles". In contrast, the marking of the entities (persons, publications, institutions, places, and letters) adheres to the general guidelines of hallerNet (Konventionen Strukturdaten Version 2.3).
