The Jena professor Hermann Friedrich Teichmeyer corresponded with his son-in-law Haller from March 1742 to October 1743. Fifteen of his letters have survived but only one of Haller’s, though Teichmeyer sometimes quotes short passages from Haller’s letters. Many of Teichmeyer’s communications address first Haller and then his wife Amalia. Familial finances and quarrels, including Teichmeyer’s search for his second wife, are central themes. Other topics include medical practice and professorial life.
