The Manuscripts

Only Scheidt’s side of the exchange with Haller has come down to us. The originals of all nine of the items presented here are in Scheidt’s handwriting. All eventually reached Haller and wound up in his papers, but only six of them were addressed to him. Two were instead addressed to Münchhausen and one to Michaelis. No more than a few short excerpts of Scheidt’s letters have been published.
